TEPCO receives ¥18.4 bn for Fukushima compensation

Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings (TEPCO) today received JPY 18.4 billion in funding from the Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation (NDF). This latest disbursement, based on a revised special business plan certified on March 17, 2025, is designated for compensation related to the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant accident.

TEPCO has previously received JPY 1,889 billion in compensation under the Nuclear Damage Compensation Contract Law and a total of JPY 11,453.4 billion in funds from the NDF. The company requested this 164th round of funding in anticipation that the total compensation amount to be paid by the end of January 2026 would exceed the combined sum of these previous receipts.

TEPCO reiterated its commitment to victims of the nuclear accident, stating it will continue to provide compensation to every affected individual, supported by financial assistance from the NDF.
