Mitsubishi Materials affiliate to halt kiln operations for recycling hub

Mitsubishi UBE Cement Corporation (MUCC), a 50%-owned affiliate of Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, has decided to suspend kiln operations at its Kyushu Plant Kanda District 2. This strategic move aims to convert the district into a recycling hub focused on processing various waste types by the end of March 2027. The objective is to enhance asset efficiency, bolster the competitiveness of MUCC’s cement business, and increase thermal energy substitution for carbon neutrality.

Mitsubishi Materials expects the impact of this decision on its consolidated results for the fiscal year ending March 2026 to be immaterial. The company will issue further announcements if additional information becomes available.

For the fiscal year ending March 2026, Mitsubishi Materials forecasts consolidated net sales of JPY 1,590,000 million, operating profit of JPY 15,000 million, and profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 20,000 million. This compares to the previous fiscal year (ended March 2025), where consolidated net sales were JPY 1,962,076 million, operating profit was JPY 37,118 million, and profit attributable to owners of parent was JPY 34,076 million.
