Earth Corporation wins patent infringement lawsuit, competitor’s patent invalidated

Earth Corporation (TSE:4985) announced on December 17, 2025, that it prevailed in a patent infringement lawsuit filed by Dainihon Jochugiku Co., Ltd. The Tokyo District Court ruled in favor of Earth Corporation, determining that the patent held by Dainihon Jochugiku was invalid and dismissed their claims regarding Earth Corporation's product, "Osu Dake No-mat." The lawsuit commenced on March 1, 2024, with Dainihon Jochugiku alleging infringement by Earth Corporation’s manufacturing activities. Earth Corporation consistently argued its product did not infringe and the patent was invalid.

The company views this ruling as a fair judgment, reinforcing its commitment to expanding and utilizing its intellectual property rights while respecting those of others. Earth Corporation reaffirmed its management philosophy to deliver high-quality, customer-centric products like "Osu Dake No-mat."

Earth Corporation anticipates the litigation will have a negligible impact on its consolidated financial results for the current fiscal period. The company’s forecast for the fiscal year ending December 2025 includes net sales of 178,000 million yen, operating profit of 8,000 million yen, ordinary profit of 8,600 million yen, and profit attributable to owners of parent of 5,300 million yen.
