Harmonic Drive Systems beats H1 FY2026 forecasts, boosts full-year outlook

Harmonic Drive Systems Inc. announced its financial results for the first half of the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, significantly exceeding original forecasts. Net sales reached 27,838 million yen, an increase of 3.1% over the 27,000 million yen originally projected. Operating income soared to 465 million yen, a 55.2% improvement from the 300 million yen forecast, and ordinary income more than doubled expectations at 502 million yen compared to 200 million yen, a 151.4% increase. Net income also rose to 317 million yen, exceeding the 300 million yen forecast by 5.7%.

Looking ahead, the company provided full-year FY2026 forecasts, projecting net sales of 57,000 million yen and operating income of 1,500 million yen. Ordinary income is also forecast at 1,500 million yen, with net income expected to be 1,300 million yen. Capital investment is projected at 6,100 million yen, a 62.0% increase year-on-year, indicating strategic expansion.

Key initiatives in H1 FY2026 included developing new drivers for AI robot applications, with mass production for a North American startup beginning. The company also launched a company-wide cost innovation project, improving operating profit by approximately 400 million yen, including price hike contributions. Looking forward, the company plans to deepen its focus on AI robot applications, expand production capacity in North America, and enhance sustainable procurement practices.
