Chubu Electric Power Miraiz revises extra-high and high voltage rates

Chubu Electric Power Miraiz Co., Inc. announced a revision to its standard menus for extra-high voltage and high voltage customers, effective April 1, 2026. This adjustment modifies the fuel cost adjustment system, incorporating wholesale electricity market price fluctuations in addition to fuel price changes. The calculation basis for fuel costs and wholesale market prices will be revised, with new parameters for fuel price reflection and an expanded scope for wholesale market prices. The company will also introduce a new "HH (Henry Hub) price reflection component" to account for natural gas price fluctuations. The average fuel and market price calculation periods will be adjusted, moving from a 3-5 month average to a 1-month average, to ensure more accurate reflection of market trends.

In conjunction with these changes, Chubu Electric Power Miraiz will revise its energy charge unit prices. The revision aims to maintain customer billing levels, ensuring that the combined total of the energy charge unit price and fuel cost adjustment for December 2025 remains equivalent before and after the adjustments, based on December 2025 calculation parameters. This includes a JPY 1.00 discount on the fuel cost adjustment unit price for December 2025 due to electricity bill relief measures.

The revisions detail specific changes to parameters such as base fuel price, HH price, and market price, alongside adjustments to conversion and adjustment factors. For example, the base fuel price will change from JPY 42,000/kl to JPY 52,900/kl, and the base HH price will be 2.867 $/MMBtu. Monthly adjustment factors for the wholesale electricity market price component will be set, with limits of 0.493 for extra-high voltage and 0.500 for high voltage, and will be announced annually by the end of December.
