Harmonic Drive Systems sees profit recovery in first half, net sales up 4.8%

Harmonic Drive Systems Inc. announced consolidated financial results for the six months ended September 30, 2025, with net sales reaching 27,838 million yen, an increase of 4.8% year-on-year. Operating profit turned positive at 465 million yen, recovering from an operating loss of 637 million yen in the same period last fiscal year. Profit attributable to owners of parent also improved significantly to 317 million yen, compared to a loss of 850 million yen previously.

The company's total assets decreased by 5.7% to 107,193 million yen from the previous fiscal year-end, primarily due to reductions in cash and deposits and other current assets. Liabilities also decreased by 12.4% to 30,372 million yen, driven by payments for short-term and long-term borrowings. As a result, the equity ratio rose to 71.7% from 69.5%.

Cash flows from operating activities provided 3,880 million yen, up from 3,161 million yen last year, while investing activities used 2,897 million yen. Financing activities utilized 5,074 million yen, mainly for repayments of borrowings and dividend payments. The fiscal year 2026 forecast remains unchanged, with projected full-year net sales of 57,000 million yen and profit attributable to owners of parent of 1,300 million yen.
