Daihatsu InfiniEarth revises mid-term plan upward, eyes new energy

Daihatsu InfiniEarth reported interim financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2026, with revenue decreasing by 1,362 million yen to 41,534 million yen, a 3.2% decline year-on-year. Operating profit also fell by 720 million yen (22.6%) to 2,463 million yen. Despite a reduction in engine sales, strong performance in maintenance-related sales exceeded projections, leading to a better-than-planned result for the period. Net income for the interim period stood at 2,110 million yen, a slight decrease of 16 million yen (0.8%).

The company has revised its mid-term vision and fiscal year ending March 2026 plan upwards, with the fiscal year 2026 revenue target increasing to 85,000 million yen and operating profit to 6,300 million yen. By March 2028, revenue is projected to reach 100,000 million yen (previously 92,000 million yen) and operating profit 9,000 million yen (previously 7,400 million yen). This revision is driven by strong order backlogs, particularly for new factory operations, and an increased focus on next-generation fuels, including methanol, ammonia, and hydrogen. Order backlog for September 2025 reached 101,051 million yen, up 51.9% from the previous year.

Total investment for the period up to March 2028 has been increased to 600 billion yen (from 500 billion yen), with significant allocations for next-generation fuel technologies (165 billion yen), logistics reforms (100 billion yen), and production base enhancements (95 billion yen). The company aims to commercialize methanol DF engines by 2026 and ammonia DF engines by 2028, contributing to net-zero emissions goals. Shareholder returns will maintain a dividend payout ratio of 30%, with discussions underway to aim for "avoiding dividend cuts and a progressive dividend policy."
