CyberAgent subsidiary settles Konami patent lawsuit over "Uma Musume" game

On November 7, CyberAgent announced that its consolidated subsidiary, Cygames, settled a patent infringement lawsuit with Konami Digital Entertainment. The lawsuit, filed on March 31, 2023, concerned Cygames' game "Uma Musume Pretty Derby" and involved 18 patents for which Cygames had requested invalidation trials. Cygames maintained no patent infringement occurred but opted for settlement to resolve the dispute promptly and ensure continued enjoyment of the service for users.

The terms of the settlement will remain confidential due to non-disclosure agreements, except where legal or regulatory disclosure is required. The lawsuit was heard by the Tokyo District Court.

CyberAgent anticipates the impact of this settlement on its consolidated earnings and financial forecast to be minor. Cygames, Inc. is headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, and specializes in game planning, development, and operation, animation production, and investment support. Konami Digital Entertainment Co., Ltd. is also based in Tokyo.
