Softbank reports record half-year results, tackles ransomware attack

Softbank Corp. achieved record financial results for the six months ended September 30, 2025, with revenue increasing by JPY248.8 billion (7.9%) to JPY3,400.8 billion, and net income attributable to owners of the company rising by JPY24.9 billion (7.7%) to JPY348.8 billion. Operating income also reached a record JPY628.9 billion, up 7.3%. This strong performance led to an upward revision of the full fiscal year net income forecast to JPY540.0 billion in May 2025.

Key strategic developments included the acquisition of BEENOS Inc. by subsidiary LY Corporation on May 7, 2025, to enhance cross-border e-commerce, and the conversion of LINE Bank Taiwan Limited into a subsidiary on June 17, 2025, to boost banking services. Additionally, LY Corporation gained control of LINE MAN CORPORATION PTE. LTD. on September 30, 2025, expanding its on-demand services. The company also executed a 10-for-1 stock split effective October 1, 2024.

However, Softbank Corp. also disclosed a ransomware attack on its subsidiary ASKUL Corporation on October 19, 2025, causing a system failure, with the full impact on future business performance currently under assessment.
