Axial Retailing achieves record sales in strong half-year performance

Axial Retailing announced record consolidated net sales of JPY 146,718 million for the six-month period ended September 30, 2025, a 6.5% increase year-over-year. Operating profit rose 1.2% to JPY 5,886 million, with ordinary profit up 1.5% to JPY 6,026 million. Net profit attributable to owners of parent increased 1.4% to JPY 4,054 million, resulting in basic earnings per share of JPY 45.72. The company’s total assets stood at JPY 137,290 million, with net assets at JPY 91,035 million.

The supermarket business segment recorded net sales of JPY 146,481 million, up 6.5% from the previous year, and operating profit of JPY 5,831 million, a 2.7% increase. All store sales increased by 7.4%, with existing store sales up 6.6%. Fresh foods, general foods, and other categories all showed growth. The company maintained a strong presence with 130 stores, including 67 Harashin and 13 NALS stores, and 50 FRESSAY stores, with one new store planned for March 2026 in Minamiuonuma City, Niigata Prefecture.

Strategic initiatives, including an app renewal, direct import of products, and an increase in government stockpiled rice sales, contributed to the positive results. Despite increased personnel and distribution costs, rigorous cost control and digital transformation efforts absorbed these expenses. Axial Retailing forecasts full-year consolidated net sales of JPY 286,000 million and net profit attributable to owners of parent of JPY 8,200 million for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, with an anticipated annual dividend of JPY 29.00 per share.
