Mitsubishi Chemical revises FY2025 forecast downward on market headwinds

Mitsubishi Chemical Group Corporation has revised its consolidated financial results forecast for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026 (FY2025). The revised forecast, announced on October 31, 2025, projects sales revenue of 3,672.0 billion yen, down from the previous forecast of 3,740.0 billion yen. Core operating income is expected to decrease by 5.7% to 250.0 billion yen, a reduction of 15.0 billion yen from the earlier projection of 265.0 billion yen. Operating income is now forecasted at 176.0 billion yen, and net income attributable to owners of the parent at 125.0 billion yen, resulting in basic earnings per share of 91.21 yen.

The downward revision is primarily attributed to a reduction in price gaps and declining sales volumes in the MMA & Derivatives and Basic Materials & Polymers segments, influenced by lower market prices. This offsets robust demand in the Specialty Materials segment. Additionally, operating income, net income, and net income attributable to owners of the parent are expected to be further impacted by non-recurring losses related to structural reforms anticipated in the second half of fiscal 2025.

In a related financial report for the first half of FY2025, the company recorded sales revenue of 1,799.1 billion yen and core operating income of 126.1 billion yen. Total assets at the end of the interim consolidated accounting period stood at 5,664.1 billion yen. The company also announced the cancellation of 64,820,900 shares of its common stock, representing 4.3% of issued shares, on October 28, 2025, reducing total issued shares to 1,441,467,207.
