Nissan Shatai pivots Shonan plant to service parts production

Nissan Shatai Co. has resolved to reposition its Shonan Plant as a dedicated service parts production facility, effective October 29, 2025. This decision follows Nissan Motor Co.'s plan to conclude NV200 Vanette production at the Shonan Plant by the end of fiscal year 2026. The shift prioritizes profitability, scalability, and employment stability, leveraging existing technical skills, expertise, and equipment for broader business expansion, including service parts for other Nissan plants globally.

The company initially explored various options for the Shonan Plant, including continued vehicle production outsourcing and a shift towards support businesses like specially equipped vehicles, with employee employment being the highest priority. The current resolution to focus on service parts was made after evaluating all possibilities.

Employees currently at the Shonan Plant will be considered for transfers to Nissan Shatai Kyushu, which will continue vehicle production, or to other affiliated companies within the Nissan Shatai Group as part of this transition. Nissan Shatai will inform employees and begin discussions with the labor union, promising to disclose any financial impact from the production termination and personnel measures once calculations are finalized.
