Kobe Bussan reports strong september performance, profit up on store expansion

Kobe Bussan Co., Ltd. recorded a robust September 2025, with non-consolidated net sales reaching ¥45,720 million, a 6.9% increase year-on-year. This growth was accompanied by significant improvements in profitability, with gross profit up 18.9% to ¥4,599 million, operating profit rising 17.0% to ¥2,540 million, and ordinary profit surging 282.2% to ¥2,725 million. The substantial increase in ordinary profit is attributed to minor exchange rate fluctuations reducing the impact of mark-to-market valuations on forward exchange contracts, contrasting with a significant valuation loss in September 2024.

The "Gyomu Super" store network expanded, with three new stores opened in September, bringing the total to 1,117 locations, an increase of 40 stores from the previous year. This expansion, combined with continued media coverage, contributed to the strong sales performance. Product shipments to Gyomu Super stores remained robust, with existing stores in directly managed areas seeing a 4.0% increase, all stores in directly managed areas a 6.1% increase, and all stores nationwide a 7.2% increase year-on-year.

Sales trends showed continued strength in summer items, like beverages, due to the prolonged heat, along with strong performance from promotional items. Kobe Bussan is currently running a "Gyomu Super Stores Loaded with Bargains!! Storewide Customer Appreciation Sale in Autumn 2025" through October 31 to further attract customers.
