Arata, PALTAC, Planet partner to centralize product information management

Arata Corporation, PALTAC Corporation, and Planet Corporation have announced the joint establishment of Product Registry Services, Inc. The new company is set to launch in November 2025 with services commencing in April 2026. Headquartered in Tokyo and capitalized at 100 million yen, the entity will centralize product information for cosmetics, daily necessities, and other general consumer goods.

The initiative aims to improve efficiency in the commercial and logistical aspects of the supply chain by standardizing and unifying product master data. This will address challenges such as inconsistent data, manual processing, and ambiguities in JAN code operations, which currently hinder delivery efficiency and increase communication costs. The three founding companies will initially oversee operations, with Arata and PALTAC each holding a 30% stake, and Planet holding 40%.

Product Registry Services, Inc. will also align with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry's "Product Information Collaboration Standard Study Group" and "Product Information Collaboration Council." The venture seeks broad industry participation to adhere to the "Five Principles of Product Information" framework, focusing on collecting, storing, maintaining, and providing product information, along with consulting services and infrastructure.
