Autobacs reports flat September sales despite decline in customer traffic

Autobacs Seven announced its preliminary monthly retail sales results for September 2025, reporting a 0.0% year-over-year increase in same-store sales and a 1.4% increase in total-store sales for its domestic operations. This flat growth was achieved despite a 4.1% decline in same-store customer numbers and a 3.4% drop in total customer numbers, offset by a 4.2% increase in average purchase price per customer.

Key growth drivers included a 7.2% rise in tire sales, attributed to an expanded product lineup, and a 7.3% increase in battery sales, reflecting maintenance demand for existing vehicles. Conversely, car electronics saw an 8.8% decline, and accessories decreased by 5.5%. Service revenue grew by 1.2%, with safety inspection and maintenance up 0.0%, while car purchase and sales fell by 3.0%. The company noted one less weekend/holiday compared to the previous year.

As of September 2025, Autobacs operated 1,038 domestic stores, with 512 under the main "Autobacs" banner, and 151 overseas stores. During September, the company opened 13 new domestic stores, bringing the total for the fiscal year's second quarter to 18.
