Nippon Carbon updates on Toyama Plant fire, limited supply chain impact

Nippon Carbon Co., Ltd. issued its third report on September 29, 2025, concerning a fire that occurred at its Toyama Plant in Toyama City on August 29, 2025. The company reiterated apologies for the inconvenience caused to stakeholders.

The update details that the fire-damaged area measures 4,644.9 m², within a building with a total floor area of 10,907.45 m². While restoration of the affected graphitization furnace facilities is expected to take a considerable period, Nippon Carbon anticipates that the impact on the artificial graphite electrode supply chain will remain extremely limited, attributed to the utilization of other production facilities and additional measures.

The full extent of damages and losses will be determined once the fire department's on-site investigation concludes. The company pledged to make a timely disclosure if the incident is deemed to have a material impact on its financial results.
