Shibaura Mechatronics allies with Photo electron Soul for semiconductor inspection tech

Shibaura Mechatronics Corporation has entered into a capital and business alliance with Photo electron Soul Inc. The collaboration focuses on Photo electron Soul's "semiconductor photocathode electron beam generation system," which offers a new method for inspecting and analyzing semiconductor device defects and structures. Shibaura Mechatronics plans to subscribe to new shares issued by Photo electron Soul through a third-party allocation, participating in a portion of Photo electron Soul's planned JPY 1 billion capital raise.

The business alliance will involve both companies collaborating on the manufacturing and maintenance of the electron beam generation system, with Shibaura Mechatronics' subsidiary, Shibaura Eletech Inc., also participating in maintenance. The board of directors approved the agreement on August 28, 2025.

Shibaura Mechatronics anticipates this alliance will contribute to its long-term corporate value, aligning with its "Shibaura Vision 2033" to achieve consolidated net sales of over JPY 100 billion and an ROS exceeding 20% by 2033. The company projects the impact on its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 2026 to be minor.
