Unbanked to book JPY 1.21bn settlement loss

The lawsuit, initiated in 2023 by the heirs of a former customer against a former company executive, alleged JPY 1.33 billion in damages related to the commodity trading business previously conducted by Unbanked. While the initial claim was rejected, an appeal led to settlement negotiations, and Unbanked, who was a party to the appeal, opted to settle to avoid further legal costs and potential prolongation of the proceedings.
