Rakuten Mobile and U-NEXT partner for new unlimited entertainment plan

Rakuten Group's (TSE:4755) subsidiary, Rakuten Mobile, is partnering with U-NEXT Co., Ltd. to launch the "Rakuten Saikyo U-NEXT" plan, a new service combining unlimited mobile data with U-NEXT's extensive entertainment content. Starting October 2025, subscribers will pay a monthly fee of JPY4,268 (including tax) for unlimited access to U-NEXT's movies, TV dramas, live music, and a library of magazines and children's books, alongside Rakuten Mobile’s existing benefits, such as "Rakuten Magazine," "Rakuten Music," "Rakuten Link," and overseas roaming. Rakuten Mobile aims to expand its customer base with offerings like "Saikyo Family Program", "Saikyo Youth Program", "Saikyo Kids Program", and "Saikyo Senior Program." The partnership leverages the synergy between U-NEXT's content platform, boasting over 4.6 million subscribers, and Rakuten Mobile’s "Rakuten Saikyo Plan." Rakuten anticipates this business alliance will not materially impact its consolidated financial results for the current fiscal year. U-NEXT had total assets of JPY68,835 million and shareholders’ equity of JPY49,923 million as of August 31, 2024.
