Kyocera sells KDDI shares in tender offer for JPY249.3bn

Kyocera Corporation (TSE:6971) announced the successful tendering of 108,058,400 common shares of KDDI Corporation in response to KDDI's share repurchase program. The tendering, which concluded on June 11, 2025, resulted in Kyocera receiving JPY2,307 per share, for a total sale of JPY249,290,728,800. Following the sale, Kyocera's holdings in KDDI have decreased from 670,192,000 shares (16.85% ownership) to 562,133,600 shares (14.13% ownership). Kyocera anticipates recording a gain on the sale of these long-term investments as a non-recurring revenue of JPY242.8 billion in its non-consolidated financial statements for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026, but in the consolidated financial statements it will be recorded as "other comprehensive income". Settlement is scheduled to begin on July 3, 2025.
