Daiichi Sankyo faces expanded damages claim in NTK lawsuit

Daiichi Sankyo (TSE:4568) is facing an expanded lawsuit filed by Northern TK Venture Pte. Ltd. (NTK), an indirect subsidiary of IHH Healthcare Berhad, as announced on May 22, 2025. The initial lawsuit, filed on October 16, 2023, in the Tokyo District Court, sought JPY20 billion in damages. NTK has now filed a motion on May 9, 2025, to amend the claim, seeking an increased amount in damages. The underlying dispute stems from Daiichi Sankyo's efforts to enforce an arbitration award against former shareholders of Ranbaxy in India. NTK alleges that the suspension of its open offer for Fortis Healthcare Limited (FHL) shares, due to court directions during the arbitration enforcement, constitutes interference by Daiichi Sankyo. Daiichi Sankyo maintains that NTK's claims are without merit and states it will defend its position in court.
