Nintendo announces Nintendo Switch 2 launching June 5, 2025

Nintendo Co., Ltd. (TSE:7974) announced today the upcoming launch of its new video game console, the "Nintendo Switch 2." This successor to the original Nintendo Switch will feature an enhanced screen, new magnetic Joy-Con controllers, and significantly improved processing power and graphics capabilities, which will allow for new forms of gameplay. The Nintendo Switch 2 (Japanese and domestic version) is slated for release on June 5, 2025, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of JPY 49,980 (including tax). Nintendo stated that the impact of the Nintendo Switch 2 on consolidated sales is still being determined and will be disclosed during the fiscal year results announcement on May 8, 2025, where forecasts for the fiscal year ending March 2026 will be released.
