Furukawa Electric completes acquisition, renames Fujitsu Optical Components

Furukawa Electric (TSE:5801) announced the completion of its acquisition of Fujitsu Optical Components and its subsequent renaming to Furukawa FITEL Optical Components Co., Ltd. The transaction, initially disclosed on December 12, 2024, sees Furukawa Electric acquiring all 4,000 shares of Fujitsu Optical Components, representing 100% ownership, for approximately JPY4.4 billion. The new subsidiary's core business will continue to be the development, manufacture, and sales of optical components. Alongside the name change, the company's headquarters will relocate to Tokyo. Furukawa Electric anticipates a minimal impact on its consolidated financial results for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2025, with the impact on the following fiscal year currently under assessment.
