SciDev secures $19.5m contract for Rum Jungle water treatment

SciDev Ltd announced it has secured a contract with an estimated value of A$19.5 million for the Rum Jungle Groundwater Treatment Plant Package. Awarded by McMahon Services Australia (NT) Pty Ltd, the contract involves the design and construction of a 30-litre-per-second multi-stage water treatment plant to manage impacted water from legacy uranium mining at the former Rum Jungle Mine.

The project is a key part of one of Australia's most significant environmental remediation undertakings, jointly funded by the Northern Territory and Commonwealth Governments. The treatment plant is required to be operational by September 4, 2026. The contract also includes an option for a two-year extension covering initial operation and maintenance (O&M), with SciDev well-positioned to deliver a complete 15-year O&M program.

SciDev’s chief executive, Sean Halpin, highlighted that this contract is a significant milestone, reinforcing the company’s commercial strength and its capability to provide lasting environmental and community benefits through its proprietary technologies.
