Paladin Energy's transformative year: sustainability, production, and community investment

Paladin Energy Ltd experienced a transformative FY2025, marked by the implementation of its sustainability strategy and the acquisition of Fission Uranium Corp., now Paladin Canada Inc. The company achieved a record production rate at its Langer Heinrich Mine (LHM) and strengthened local employment, with over 98% of the LHM workforce being Namibian. The PLS Project in Canada advanced to the public review phase of its Environmental Impact Statement, and Paladin signed Mutual Benefit Agreements with the Buffalo River Dene Nation and Clearwater River Dene Nation. Globally, Paladin contributed over $800,000 to community investment programs in Namibia and Canada.

In FY2025, Paladin significantly improved its safety performance, with the Total Recordable Injury Frequency Rate (TRIFR) decreasing to 2.7 per million hours worked from 3.8 in the previous year. The company expanded its environmental monitoring programs, including groundwater monitoring at LHM and the development of an Environmental Impact Statement for the PLS Project. Paladin also made progress in its climate change roadmap, completing physical climate risk assessments for 27 key locations and conducting AASB S2 Board Training in preparation for mandatory reporting from FY2026.

Paladin’s estimated absolute Scope 1 emissions totaled 67,253 metric tons of CO2 equivalent, and Scope 2 emissions reached 15,409 tonnes CO2e, representing increases of 254% and 239% respectively over FY2024, attributed to full-period operation and ramp-up activities at the LHM. The company continues to develop a Climate Transition Action Plan for FY2026, setting short and long-term goals for its operations.
