Soul Pattinson becomes substantial holder in Symal Group

Washington H. Soul Pattinson and Company Limited (Soul Patts) has become a substantial holder in Symal Group Limited (SYL), acquiring a 2.56% voting power. This stake, disclosed on September 25, 2025, comprises 6,050,269 ordinary fully paid shares. Specifically, Soul Patts holds 3,047,566 shares directly, while Pengana Capital Group Limited, an associate where Soul Patts holds over 20% voting power, holds 3,002,703 shares.

The acquisitions leading to this substantial holding occurred through purchases in September 2025. On September 10, 2025, Soul Patts acquired 243,765 shares at A$1.7500 each, totaling A$426,588.75. A larger purchase of 2,843,858 shares at A$1.6300, amounting to A$4,635,488.54, took place on September 25, 2025. A minor sale of 40,057 shares on the same day partially offset these acquisitions.

Beyond direct ownership, Soul Patts has also secured an economic interest in an additional 6,500,000 SYL ordinary shares through cash-settled equity swaps, entered into on November 20, 2024, at a price of A$1.85 per share. When combined with its voting power, this brings Soul Patts' total economic interest in SYL to 5.31%.
