Downer wins $3.05bn Australian defence contract

Downer EDI Limited announced today, September 11, 2025, that it has been awarded a new contract by the Australian Department of Defence, valued at approximately $3.05 billion over an initial six-year term. This contract will cover base and estate services.

The Property and Asset Services (PAS) contract, part of Defence's Base Services Transformation program, is set to commence in February 2026 and run until 2032. The agreement includes two extension options of one to three years each, potentially extending the total term to 10 years. Under the new contract, Downer will expand its geographical footprint, providing facilities maintenance, aerodrome operations, land management, and training area services across the combined New South Wales, Australian Capital Territory, and Queensland regions.

This new award represents an increase in Downer's role, covering two of Defence's largest regions, and builds on its existing 80-plus years as a Defence partner. Downer will leverage its supply chain of over 900 small and medium enterprises to deliver these vital services.
