ANZ appoints Kevin Corbally managing director, capital management institutional

ANZ announced on September 11, 2025, the appointment of Kevin Corbally as managing director, capital management institutional. Mr. Corbally will step down from his current position as group chief risk officer, a role he has held since 2018. During his tenure as group chief risk officer, he notably improved ANZ's credit profile, moving the bank from having the highest credit losses to the lowest among its domestic peers prior to his appointment. He also played a key role in the bank's response to the 2018 Banking Royal Commission and its navigation of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

In his new capacity, Mr. Corbally will be responsible for integrating enhanced capital management strategies within the institutional business. He will report to Mark Whelan, ANZ's group executive, institutional, and will join the institutional bank's leadership team. ANZ chief executive officer Nuno Matos commented that Mr. Corbally's extensive experience will be valuable in this new challenge and will help strengthen ANZ's capital management capabilities.

Mr. Corbally will continue to serve as group chief risk officer until a successor is appointed, with an announcement regarding his replacement expected in due course.
