Guangdong Janus Intelligent faces significant liability in patent infringement case

Guangdong Janus Intelligent Group announced today that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Shenzhen Janus Intelligent Machinery Co., Ltd., along with an individual, has been ordered to pay 381,630,000 yuan in economic losses and reasonable expenses to Beijing Jingdiao Technology Group Co., Ltd. This ruling by the Supreme People's Court reverses a previous decision and mandates the cessation of the use and disclosure of infringed technical secrets. Additionally, Shenzhen Janus Intelligent Machinery and the individual are to bear court acceptance fees totaling 3,935,400 yuan.

The company had previously accounted for a 14,000,000 yuan estimated liability based on the initial court ruling. The new second-instance judgment is projected to negatively impact the company's current net profit by approximately 278,674,100 yuan and will affect future cash flow. For the first three quarters of 2025, the company's net profit attributable to shareholders was 347,932,592.59 yuan, and as of September 30, 2025, its consolidated balance sheet showed cash and cash equivalents of 600,609,626.26 yuan and tradable financial assets of 551,755,865.03 yuan, indicating its capacity to meet the compensation.

Guangdong Janus Intelligent Group has stated it will retain the right to apply for a retrial to protect its and its shareholders' interests. The company confirms that it is not currently using the patented technology in question for production or sales and does not anticipate this ruling will significantly impact its ongoing operations or sustained business capabilities.
