Sunlord sues Murata for malicious IP litigation damages

Shenzhen Sunlord Electronics Co., Ltd. has announced it has filed a lawsuit against Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. for damages resulting from alleged malicious intellectual property (IP) litigation. The case has been accepted by the Shanghai Intellectual Property Court but has not yet been heard. Sunlord, as the plaintiff, is seeking 1.5m yuan in compensation for economic losses incurred due to Murata’s alleged malicious IP litigation.

The lawsuit also requests the court to compel Murata to issue a public apology on its official website, in the China Intellectual Property News, and in the Asahi Shimbun, to restore Sunlord’s reputation. Sunlord asserts that Murata's prior IP lawsuit constitutes malicious behavior, forcing Sunlord to incur costs for defense and invalidate related patents, and to initiate this counter-suit to protect its legal rights.

Sunlord emphasized that this litigation is a justified measure to protect its legitimate rights and interests and will not affect its normal production and operations. However, due to the pending court proceedings, the final impact on the company's current and future profits remains uncertain, and investors are advised to exercise caution.
