Shenzhen airport reports strong growth in passenger and cargo traffic

Shenzhen Airport announced its September 2025 operational express report, revealing strong year-to-date growth in key performance indicators. As of September 2025, total passenger throughput reached 48.91 million person-times, an increase of 8.15% year-on-year. International routes demonstrated impressive growth, with passenger throughput up 25.76% year-on-year to 4.28 million person-times for the year. Domestic routes also saw healthy growth of 6.70% to 44.24 million person-times.

Cargo and mail throughput for the year reached 1.49 million tons, marking an 11.73% increase compared to the previous year. International cargo traffic contributed significantly to this growth, rising 13.35% to 720,600 tons. Domestic cargo experienced a 10.67% increase, reaching 728,100 tons.

Despite the positive trends in passenger and cargo volumes, the total number of flight movements showed a modest year-to-date increase of 4.87%, totaling 331,830 aircraft movements. International flight movements grew by 19.54% to 43,981 movements, while domestic flights increased by 2.95% to 284,872 movements. The company noted that these figures are preliminary and may differ from final data.
