Zhifei Biological gains approval for trivalent influenza vaccine, secures new patent

Chongqing Zhifei Biological Products Co., Ltd. announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd., has received a drug registration certificate for its influenza virus split vaccine (trivalent influenza vaccine) from the National Medical Products Administration (NMPA). This product, approved under registration number S20250053, is classified as a preventive biological product in injectable form, adding to the company's comprehensive influenza vaccine lineup. Zhifei Biological already offers a quadrivalent influenza vaccine and other candidates in clinical development.

The new trivalent influenza vaccine, suitable for individuals aged 3 and above, is a key product in the global prevention of influenza. The successful registration strengthens Zhifei Biological's market position and overall competitiveness by offering a broader range of high-quality products.

In a related development, Zhifei Biological, along with its subsidiaries Anhui Zhifei Longcom Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd. and Beijing Zhifei Green Bamboo Biopharmaceutical Co., Ltd., secured an invention patent (ZL202310716954.1, Certificate No. 8303195) for a method to detect differences in immune adjuvant quality. This patent, filed on June 15, 2023, and granted on September 26, 2025, originated from the company's research into a freeze-dried recombinant tuberculosis vaccine. While not expected to significantly impact current operations, it further enhances Zhifei Biological's intellectual property framework and supports its innovation strategy.
