Hubei Energy sees strong August power generation, driven by hydro

Hubei Energy Group Co., Ltd. announced total power generation of 5.02 bn kilowatt-hours (kWh) in August 2025, a 22.05% increase year-on-year. This surge was predominantly fueled by hydroelectric power, which saw a remarkable 140.49% rise. In contrast, thermal power generation decreased by 4.29%, while new energy power generation increased by 13.74% during the same period.

For the year to date, Hubei Energy’s cumulative power generation reached 29.816 bn kWh, a slight decrease of 0.06% compared to the previous year. Hydroelectric power generation for the year decreased by 29.69%, while thermal power generation grew by 6.52%, and new energy power generation increased significantly by 42.54%. Within new energy, solar power generation rose by 67.22% year-on-year, while wind power saw a decrease of 4.88%.

The company noted that these figures are preliminary and subject to change due to various factors including weather conditions, water availability, seasonal patterns, equipment maintenance, and safety inspections.
