China Coal Energy sees mixed production in november, ammonium nitrate soars

China Coal Energy Company Limited announced its key production and operating data for November 2025, showing a decrease in both commodity coal production and sales compared to November 2024. Commodity coal production fell by 7.4% to 1,117 ten thousand tonnes, and commodity coal sales dropped by 15.7% to 2,174 ten thousand tonnes. However, year-to-date self-produced commodity coal sales saw a slight increase of 0.8% to 12,542 ten thousand tonnes.

In the chemical sector, there was a mixed performance. Polyethylene production increased by 6.7% to 6.4 ten thousand tonnes, with sales up 12.1% to 6.5 ten thousand tonnes in November 2025. Polypropylene production also rose by 5.0% to 6.3 ten thousand tonnes, and sales increased by 3.4% to 6.1 ten thousand tonnes. Conversely, urea production and sales experienced declines of 1.1% and 13.7%, respectively, while methanol production and sales also decreased by 1.2% and 12.2%.

The company's ammonium nitrate segment showed significant growth, with production soaring by 40.5% to 5.9 ten thousand tonnes and sales increasing by 59.0% to 6.2 ten thousand tonnes in November 2025. Meanwhile, the coal mining equipment business recorded a production value of CNY6.5 billion, a 17.7% decrease compared to November 2024.
