China Eastern Airlines sees strong october growth, expands network

China Eastern Airlines saw its passenger traffic, measured by revenue passenger kilometers (RPK), jump by 10.58% year-on-year in October 2025. This was supported by a 6.84% increase in available seat kilometers (ASK). The passenger load factor improved by 2.97 percentage points to 87.52%. Domestic routes contributed significantly, with RPK increasing by 5.56%, while international routes surged by 23.02%. Total passengers carried also rose by 5.92% to 12.99 million.

The airline's cargo operations also experienced strong growth, with cargo and mail revenue tonne kilometers (RFTK) increasing by 14.59% year-on-year. Available freight tonne kilometers (AFTK) grew by 8.61%. The cargo load factor improved by 2.19 percentage points to 41.82%.

In October 2025, China Eastern Airlines expanded its network by launching new domestic routes, including Chengdu Tianfu-Cangyuan and Chengdu Tianfu-Tianjin, and new international routes such as Taiyuan-Changsha-Singapore. The company also introduced four new A320 series passenger aircraft, bringing its total operational fleet to 822 aircraft.
