Dongfeng auto production, sales tumble in October; joint venture shines

Dongfeng Automobile Company Limited experienced a notable downturn in its October 2025 production and sales. Total vehicle production for the month stood at 6,536 units, a 23.40% decrease compared to the same period last year. Sales also fell, with 7,336 units sold, marking a 21.43% decline year-over-year. For the year-to-date, total production reached 90,288 units, down 23.40%, while sales were 99,482 units, an 21.43% decrease from the previous year.

Among specific vehicle types, light commercial vehicle production in October was 6,016 units (-20.84% year-over-year) and sales were 6,805 units (-18.43% year-over-year). Passenger vehicle production dropped by a substantial 60.84% to 352 units, with sales also plummeting by 59.66% to 397 units. New energy vehicle production and sales also saw declines, at -24.64% and -17.52% respectively for the year-to-date.

In contrast, Dongfeng Cummins Engine Co., Ltd., a 50/50 joint venture, reported positive growth. Its October engine production increased by 8.23% to 15,290 units, and sales rose by 11.72% to 16,422 units compared to the same month last year.
