China Eastern Airlines names new general manager, reports strong Q3 profit

China Eastern Airlines Corp has appointed Mr. Gao Fei as its new general manager, effective October 30, 2025. He will also be nominated as a director candidate for the tenth board of directors. Mr. Gao, 49, previously served as general manager and deputy party secretary of China Southern Airlines. His appointment follows the resignation of Mr. Liu Tiexiang from his roles as vice chairman and general manager.

The company reported strong financial results for the third quarter of 2025. Total operating revenue for the first nine months increased to CNY106,414 million from CNY102,585 million in the prior year. Net profit attributable to shareholders increased by 34.37% to CNY3,534 million for the third quarter, while the nine-month period saw a profit of CNY2,103 million, recovering from a loss of CNY138 million in the previous year. Basic earnings per share for the nine months stood at CNY0.09.
