Inner Mongolia MengDian HuaNeng Thermal Power sees Q3 sales drop

Inner Mongolia MengDian HuaNeng Thermal Power Corporation Limited announced its operational performance for the first three quarters of 2025, revealing total electricity generation of 40.158 billion kWh, a 10.96% decrease year-on-year. On-grid electricity volume also fell by 11% to 37.186 billion kWh. The company attributed this decline primarily to increased new energy generation in the region, leading to reduced utilization hours for its thermal power units. Market-based electricity transactions accounted for 97.59% of the on-grid electricity.

Despite the reduction in volume, the average selling price of electricity (excluding tax) saw an increase of RMB 6.74/thousand kWh, rising 2.01% to RMB 341.52/thousand kWh.

In its coal operations, the company produced 10.459 million tons of coal, a slight decrease of 0.92% compared to the previous year. Coal external sales volumes dropped 8% to 4.8108 million tons. The average external selling price of coal (excluding tax) decreased significantly by RMB 109.19/ton, down 26.42%, influenced by lower settlement prices and changes in coal calorific value.
