PowerChina reports strong contract growth, hydropower and wind surge

From January to September 2025, PowerChina signed new contracts totaling 9,045.27 billion yuan, representing a 5.04% year-on-year increase. The energy and power sector was a major contributor, with new contracts amounting to 5,852.28 billion yuan, up 12.89%. Within this sector, hydropower contracts surged by 68.82% to 1,494.38 billion yuan, and wind power contracts rose by 54.67% to 1,828.74 billion yuan. However, solar power and thermal power contracts experienced declines of 33.36% and 46.25%, respectively.

Regionally, domestic contracts accounted for 6,907.73 billion yuan, showing a modest 0.83% increase, while international contracts demonstrated robust growth, climbing 21.45% to 2,137.54 billion yuan. Notable international projects signed during this period include the Donghai 300MW Wind Power Project in Vietnam (EPC) worth 29.91 billion yuan and the Puna-Sabhalis 300MW Wind Farm Project equipment supply in Bangladesh for 25.14 billion yuan.
