China Southern Airlines sees strong operating growth in September 2025

In September 2025, China Southern Airlines Group reported a 4.43% year-on-year increase in passenger capacity (measured by available seat kilometers), with domestic and international markets growing by 3.16% and 8.42% respectively. Passenger traffic (measured by revenue passenger kilometers) rose by 5.25%, pushing the passenger load factor to 86.30%, an increase of 0.67 percentage points year-on-year.

Cargo operations also showed positive momentum. Freight capacity (measured by available freight tonne-kilometers) was up 0.78% year-on-year, while revenue freight tonne-kilometers increased by 1.91%. This led to a cargo load factor of 53.16%, a 0.59 percentage point improvement from the previous year.

During September 2025, the group added seven aircraft, including two A321NEO, one A320NEO, three B737-8, and one C919. It also retired three aircraft (one A319, one B737-700, and one EMB190). As of the end of September 2025, China Southern Airlines Group operated a total of 956 transport aircraft, with no new major routes added during the month.
