China Eastern Airlines sees strong September 2025 growth, expands network

China Eastern Airlines Co., Ltd. reported robust operational performance for September 2025. Passenger capacity (ASK) rose by 3.63% year-on-year, while passenger traffic (RPK) increased by 8.67%. This led to a 4.06 percentage point improvement in load factor to 87.57%. Cargo and mail turnover (RFTK) also saw a substantial 10.95% increase. The airline expanded its network by launching new domestic and international routes, including Shanghai Pudong-Barcelona and Shanghai Pudong-Casablanca, and resuming the Shanghai Pudong-Vancouver route.

During September, the company introduced four new passenger aircraft (three A320 series and one B787 series) and retired two A320 series aircraft. This brought its total operational fleet to 820 aircraft by the end of the month, comprising 111 wide-body, 681 narrow-body, and 28 regional jets.

In related news, China Eastern Airlines' board of directors held its 10th meeting of 2025 on October 15, 2025. The board unanimously approved the proposal to formulate the "Management Team Rules of Procedure for China Eastern Airlines Corporation Limited." The company also reiterated its standard risk disclosure regarding the preliminary and unaudited nature of its monthly operating data.
