Shanghai Electric Power's generation rises 2% in Q1-Q3 2025, driven by clean energy

Shanghai Electric Power Co., Ltd. reported consolidated power generation of 60.17 bn kWh for the first three quarters of 2025, a 1.98% year-on-year increase. Clean energy sources significantly contributed, with wind power rising 15.90% to 8.372 bn kWh and photovoltaic power generation up 26.43% to 6.307 bn kWh.

Thermal power generation saw a slight decrease of 0.54% to 39.313 bn kWh, and gas power generation fell 14.93% to 6.178 bn kWh. The average on-grid electricity price (including tax) was 0.58 yuan/kWh.

The company's market-traded settlement power amounted to 43.86 bn kWh for the period, with 38.383 bn kWh from provincial market transactions and 5.477 bn kWh from inter-provincial transactions. Total on-grid power reached 57.634 bn kWh, an increase of 2.11% from the previous year.

As of September 2025, Shanghai Electric Power's controlled installed capacity was 25.7792 million kW. Clean energy sources constituted 61.80% of this capacity, with thermal power accounting for 38.20% (9.848 million kW), gas power 14.04% (3.6202 million kW), wind power 20.31% (5.2356 million kW), and photovoltaic power 27.45% (7.0754 million kW).
