Shanghai airports report strong passenger, cargo growth in September

Shanghai Pudong International Airport (PVG) recorded 45,855 aircraft movements in September 2025, a 5.66% increase year-over-year. Passenger throughput at PVG reached 6.99m passengers, marking an 11.69% rise, with international routes showing an 18.82% increase to 2.72m passengers. Cargo and mail throughput grew by 10.32% to 352,600 tons.

Meanwhile, Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport (SHA) also experienced positive trends. SHA reported 23,260 aircraft movements, up 4.43% year-on-year. Passenger volume increased by 6.05% to 4.09m passengers, driven primarily by a 5.77% growth in domestic routes. Cargo and mail throughput at SHA rose by 5.83% to 40,200 tons, with international routes seeing a notable 15.06% increase.
