Hainan Airport sees mixed september results as international traffic grows

Hainan Airport Infrastructure Co. Ltd. reported a 6.66% year-on-year decrease in total aircraft movements for September 2025, totaling 11,030 take-offs and landings across its nine managed airports. International routes, however, saw a 0.97% increase in movements, contributing to a 49.75% cumulative rise for the year. Passenger throughput declined by 3.36% to 1.6138m passengers for the month, although international passenger traffic grew by 6.47%.

Cargo and mail throughput experienced a slight 0.11% decrease to 8,266 tonnes. International cargo demonstrated significant growth of 91.33% for the month, contributing to a 259.03% year-to-date increase. Domestic routes generally showed declines in movements, passenger volume, and cargo volume for September.

Sanya Phoenix International Airport, a key subsidiary, mirrored some trends with a 3.77% decrease in aircraft movements and a 2.84% drop in passenger traffic for September 2025. This airport also reported a 6.36% decline in cargo and mail throughput for the month, while international segments continued to show strong growth. The company emphasizes these figures are preliminary and subject to change.
