Huaneng Hydropower sees strong Q3 generation growth in 2025

Huaneng Lancang River Hydropower Co., Ltd. (Huaneng Hydropower) reported a substantial increase in electricity generation for the first three quarters of 2025. The company generated 962.66 billion kWh, marking an 11.90% year-over-year increase. Net power generation also rose by 12.02% to 954.90 billion kWh.

The growth is primarily attributed to increased installed capacity, with the full operation of the TB and Hard Beam hydropower stations. Additionally, the Lancang River basin's Nuozhadu section experienced a 0.9-fold increase in water inflow during the period, enabling the company to maximize generation during the flood season. Increased power delivery to other regions further boosted overall output.

Key contributors to this growth include the Nuozhadu station, which saw a 33.47% increase in generation to 182.98 billion kWh, and the Jinghong station, up 26.08% to 57.10 billion kWh. The TB Hydropower Station demonstrated a remarkable 196.69% surge in generation, reaching 48.33 billion kWh. However, some stations, such as Wulong, experienced declines, with generation falling by 13.66% to 31.42 billion kWh.
