China Yangtze Power Q3 generation falls amid lower water inflows

For the first three quarters of 2025, China Yangtze Power's six cascade power stations generated a total of 2351.26 hundred million kWh, largely consistent with the previous year. However, the third quarter saw a total generation of 1084.70 hundred million kWh, marking a 5.84% decrease year-on-year. This decline was primarily attributed to lower water inflows, with the Wudongde reservoir's water inflow down by 6.04% and the Three Gorges reservoir's inflow down by 4.54% compared to the same period last year.

Individually, Wudongde, Baihetan, Xiluodu, and Xiangjiaba power stations experienced significant generation decreases in Q3, ranging from -10.97% to -17.03%. Conversely, Three Gorges Power Station and Gezhouba Power Station reported increased generation in Q3, up by 10.66% and 19.46% respectively.

Looking at the cumulative first three quarters, Wudongde, Xiluodu, and Xiangjiaba power stations showed slight decreases in generation, while Baihetan, Three Gorges, and Gezhouba power stations recorded increases. The overall generation for the nine months remained relatively stable, with a minor year-on-year decrease of 0.29%.
