China Eastern Airlines sees strong August 2025 growth, fleet expansion

China Eastern Airlines recorded an 8.72% year-on-year increase in passenger turnover (RPK) for August 2025, with available seat kilometers (ASK) rising by 6.76%. The passenger load factor improved by 1.59 percentage points to 88.34%. Domestic routes saw a 5.50% RPK increase, while international routes surged by 17.37%. Cargo and mail turnover (RFTK) also experienced substantial growth, up 16.39% year-on-year.

The company's total available tonne kilometers (ATK) rose by 6.81%, and revenue tonne kilometers (RTK) increased by 10.22% compared to August 2024. The overall load factor for August 2025 stood at 73.73%, an improvement of 2.28 percentage points.

In terms of fleet expansion, China Eastern Airlines added four passenger aircraft in August 2025: one B787 series, one B737 series, one A320 series, and one C909 passenger aircraft. As of the end of August 2025, the total operating fleet comprised 818 aircraft.
