Xiamen Airport reports strong August growth in passenger, cargo traffic

Xiamen International Airport reported positive transportation production figures for August 2025, with significant growth in passenger traffic and cargo volume. Total aircraft movements reached 17,858, an increase of 3.57% year-on-year. Passenger throughput surged by 5.18% to 2.707 million person-times, while cargo and mail throughput increased by 5.11% to 31,700 tonnes.

Domestic routes were a primary driver of this growth, with 15,067 aircraft movements, up 3.14%, and 2.3333 million passenger-times, a 4.91% increase. Cargo and mail on domestic routes saw a substantial rise of 14.82% to 12,200 tonnes. International routes also contributed positively, recording 2,131 aircraft movements, a 10.99% increase, and 296,300 passenger-times, up 9.27%. However, international cargo and mail throughput experienced a slight dip of 2.82% to 15,400 tonnes.

Regional routes showed a decrease in some metrics, with aircraft movements down 9.12% to 518 and passenger throughput falling 1.53% to 77,400 person-times. Despite this, regional cargo and mail throughput grew by 11.30% to 4,100 tonnes. The company noted that discrepancies in sum totals may occur due to general aviation flights and rounding differences.
