China Coal Energy reports mixed August 2025 production results

China Coal Energy Company Limited announced its major production and operation data for August 2025. Commodity coal production was 1,160 thousand tonnes, a 1.8% decrease compared to August 2024. Commodity coal sales declined by 12.8% to 2,085 thousand tonnes, though self-produced commodity coal sales increased by 3.1% to 1,151 thousand tonnes.

The coal chemical segment saw stable polyethylene and polypropylene production, both maintaining output at 6.7 thousand tonnes and 6.4 thousand tonnes respectively compared to the previous year. Urea production significantly increased by 18.3 thousand tonnes in August 2025 compared to zero in August 2024, with sales rising by 328.0% to 21.4 thousand tonnes. Methanol production also saw a substantial increase of 115.6% to 16.6 thousand tonnes.

The coal mining equipment business recorded a production value of CNY 7.9 bn in August 2025, a 6.8% increase from August 2024. However, the cumulative production value for the year decreased by 7.6% to CNY 64.0 bn. The company cautioned that these figures are for internal statistical purposes and may differ from those in its periodic reports, influenced by market conditions and operational changes.
