China Railway Group reports 16 casualties in bridge collapse

On August 22, 2025, at approximately 3:10 AM, a construction accident occurred at the Jianzha Yellow River Grand Bridge on the Sichuan-Qinghai Railway's Qinghai section. The front stay cable of the suspension tower for auxiliary steel truss erection suddenly broke, resulting in 12 fatalities and 4 missing persons.

The project is undertaken by China Railway Group's wholly-owned subsidiary China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group. The bridge is 1,596.2 meters long with a contract value of approximately 4.36 billion yuan.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. The company stated the incident is not expected to significantly impact its production, operations, or performance.
